Information collected without optional analytics
- No account is required.
- The game never asks for your name, phone number, email address or payment information.
- Functional game state and preferences may be stored locally in your browser (see below).
- GitHub Pages delivers the website and may process ordinary technical request or
server-log information under its own policies.
Local data stored in your browser
To make the game work, your browser may store essential local data such as:
- Daily puzzle progress
- Your previous guesses and completion state
- Selected raga
- Audio or interface preferences
- Practice-game state
- Your analytics consent choice
This local game data stays on your device unless another part of the site explicitly
sends it. Accepted analytics events are sent to Google Analytics, and GitHub Pages
serves the website — so it would be wrong to claim that no data ever leaves your device.
You can remove local game data any time from Privacy settings → Clear local game data.
Optional Google Analytics
Analytics is disabled until you accept it. If you accept, Google Analytics 4
may process categories of information such as:
- Page views
- Game starts
- Puzzle completions
- Win or loss result
- Attempts used
- Replay counts
- Share-button usage
- Daily versus practice mode
- Selected raga
- Approximate geographic region
- Browser, device and operating-system information
- Session information
- A pseudonymous browser identifier stored through Google Analytics cookies
The game is built so that analytics never receives: the hidden melody, your
guesses, names, email addresses, phone numbers, precise location, user-entered
messages or custom user IDs.
Analytics cookies
_ga — used to distinguish pseudonymous visitors.
_ga_<measurement-id> — used to maintain session state.
Google's default cookie duration may be up to two years, but your browser settings and
actions can shorten or remove them. The cookie does not always last exactly two years.
Why analytics is used
- Measuring daily usage
- Understanding whether visitors start and complete games
- Finding usability problems
- Understanding which modes and ragas are used
- Improving the game
Analytics here is not used for advertising, profiling, personalised advertising or sale of data.
Choice and consent
- Analytics is optional.
- Rejecting it does not affect gameplay.
- You can change your decision any time through Privacy settings.
- Clearing your browser storage may cause the site to ask again.
Third-party services
Sargamle relies on two third parties, each with its own independent privacy practices
that Sargamle does not control:
Data retention
- Local game data remains until you clear it, the game removes it, or your browser removes it.
- The analytics retention period depends on the GA4 property configuration.
- The intended GA4 user-level and event-level retention period is 14 months.
- Aggregated reports may be retained differently by Google Analytics.
Withdrawing consent stops future collection but does not automatically
erase analytics data that has already been aggregated.
International processing
Google and GitHub may process information in countries other than your own, subject to
their respective terms and safeguards.
Children
Sargamle is a general-audience music game and is not designed to collect personal
details from children. It does not require an account or ask players to submit
identifying information. Parents or guardians may disable optional analytics through
Privacy settings.
Your choices and requests
- Reject or withdraw analytics consent from Privacy settings.
- Delete local game information using Clear local game data.
- Clear cookies through your browser.
- Contact the operator using the privacy email above.
Because Sargamle has no accounts and does not ask for identifying information, it may
not always be possible to connect pseudonymous analytics records to a particular person.
Changes to this notice
This notice may change. The effective date and consent version will be updated when
analytics practices change materially.
